Karsyn Stewart – Associate

Karsyn Stewart is a newly admitted attorney at Seiler Epstein, LLP, where she works alongside the firm’s partners gaining experience across a range of practice areas, including civil litigation, real estate, and corporate law. Ms. Stewart’s background is rooted in environmental law, with experience spanning environmental regulation, water law, and administrative law matters.

Ms. Stewart received her Juris Doctor from the University of California Law, San Francisco, where she developed a concentration in Environmental Law. During her legal education, she served as a Senior Staff Editor for the Constitutional Law Journal and was selected for the UC Law SF Moot Court Team, competing in the Saul Lefkowitz Competition. She also served as a Teacher Assistant for Legal Research & Writing II. Her coursework included Environmental Law Statutory Analysis, Environmental Justice & the Law, Environmental Law & Policy, Water Law, Administrative Law, Land Use Regulation, and Energy Law.

Prior to law school, Ms. Stewart earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego.

Ms. Stewart has gained substantive legal experience across several prominent public and private sector organizations. At the California Air Resources Board, she prepared a legal argument submitted to the EPA seeking approval of a replacement engine waiver for on-road vehicles under Section 209 of the Clean Air Act, and presented to CARB’s legal department on the implications of the overturn of Chevron. As a Student Extern for the East Bay Municipal Utility District’s Office of General Counsel, she researched water law regulation with a focus on CEQA, NEPA, and administrative law, drafted an informational memorandum for EBMUD’s Board regarding the EPA’s new lead regulations, and served as an advisor on inverse condemnation matters for other department leads. She also served as a Research Assistant to Professor Dave Owen at UC Law San Francisco, analyzing state statutes on aquifer recharge requirements and water diversion eligibility.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Stewart developed foundational legal experience through her work in the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, Appellate Division, where she reviewed pleadings and evidence and summarized transcripts for sentencing appeals. She subsequently served as a Legal Processor at the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office, where she managed calendars for felony and misdemeanor departments, attended hearings, and supported attorneys, law enforcement officials, and court personnel.
